Similar the York Rite, the Scottish Rite Freemasonry conveys "further light" in Masonry. This means a Master Mason can learn more about the fraternity and craft by receiving the Scottish Rite degrees. The Northern and Southern jurisdictions offer the same basic teachings, but differ in the degree names and order. The newly made Scottish Rite Mason is placed in one of the jurisdictions based on their residential location. |
